With approx. 360 million internet users, Southeast Asia is home to the most engaged mobile internet users in the world [according to the recent e-Conomy SEA 2019 report], particularly amongst Gen Zs and millennials who are regularly using their mobile phones to search for and buy products, services and make online reservations and bookings. The APAC region has an abundant supply of hotels - estimated to be over 120,000 hotels with over 4 million rooms [as stated in The Asia Pacific Chains Report 2018]. With the increasing number of internet users and a growing domestic and regional travel population, the potential in the affordable accommodations space is vast. This also makes it increasingly challenging for OTAs and other digital travel and hospitality solutions, who are all competing for a slice of the pie, to stay relevant. In order for them to do so, they must first find a way to stand out from the crowd.
