Akira joined Japan Airlines in 1989, and has previously been responsible in the company for passenger services, business and network planning, international affairs, business development in China, internal auditing, marketing and strategy in APAC, before taking on the role from November 2017 as VP of Products and Services Planning, where he oversees customer experience management and innovation.
He is working on exciting new ways to innovate personalised customer experience through blending their core competencies in hospitality and precision with advanced digital technologies. He understands that air travel is just part of a wider customer journey, all of which are unique to each traveller. They, therefore endeavor to be a platform that supports the full journey in a more personalised and relevant way.
