New Age Offerings drives RedDoorz Hotel Expansion in SEA

08/22/2022

RedDoorz is seeing a growing demand in global tourism as the industry continues its recovery, a need for unique brand offering and the impending rise of digital guest experiences.

Kelvin Teo, Chief Operating Officer told Digital Travel APAC how they catalysed a new wave of initiatives to expand as the largest tech driven hospitality company in Southeast Asia post pandemic.

In 2020, RedDoorz launched the HygienePass program which aimed to ensure customers safety and maintain standardised hygiene measures. This launch was in collaboration with the Indonesian Public Health Association and further initiatives in supporting governments includes rolling out the COVID-19 vaccination drive which propagated travellers’ confidence of RedDoor’z commitment to their wellbeing.

Recently, RedDoorz focused on scaling up their hotel partners that meet their quality criteria, intensified their brand building activities and continued efforts on improving customer experiences across discoverability, booking and stay experiences.

With more budget hotel chains rapidly growing in APAC, its proving to be a fierce battlefield as brands try to stand out against one another and tap into a larger spectrum of travellers within the region.

In the case of RedDoorz, Teo mentioned they maintain a multi-brand approach, where each brand caters to different segments of travellers depending on their needs and wants. They currently have more than 3,500 properties in SEA across the five brands - Sans, Sunerra Hotels, Urbanview, KoolKost, and RedDoorz itself. Sans is a design-inspired, trendy and economic lifestyle brand, while Sunerra represents the firm’s first foray into the midscale hotel segment (three stars and above). Urbanview, launched earlier in 2022, is an affordable, yet smart accommodation solution while KoolKost is an extended living brand, and RedDoorz is their budget hotel/hostel line.

RedDoorz also runs community and government initiatives to give back to the community which it operates in, introducing ancillary services such as fintech and insurance, as well as collaborations with third-party suppliers to value-add to hotel partners. As a Tech startup, they are constantly innovating around technologies such as AI and rolling out innovations that serves their customers and partners needs better.

Operating on a Hospitality 3.0 model, RedDoorz manages revenue, distribution, pricing, marketing, customer experience and various operations at scale to rapidly scale up their business.

At Digital Travel APAC 2022, Teo ascertains it would be a great opportunity to see how the industry is adapting to the changing behaviour of the post-pandemic traveller, and how technology can play a part in alleviating problems that the industry faces such the globally ongoing lack of manpower.

He is looking forward to networking with some of the brightest minds and brands within the regional hospitality industry, coming together to share their thoughts and experience within the industry, which is especially important in recent times, as travel makes its recovery post-pandemic.

Kevin has been in the tech industry for 20 years providing strategic and fiscal leadership for multi-hundred million revenue internet companies in Asia prior to joining RedDooz 3 years ago.
